More Beer!

It's time. In point of fact, it's past time. The BARBARians have not gathered together to drink beer for months now, and the liquor salesmen and -women of the greater Bay Area are starting to get a little panicky. To alleviate their concerns -- and to put a few coins in their coffers -- the following get-together has been proposed: This Saturday, July 21st, at the Phoenix Irish Pub, located at 811 Valencia Street in San Francisco (easy walking distance from either the 16th and Mission or 24th and Mission BART stations), starting at approximately 1pm until we can't stand anymore they throw us all out on our collective ass BART stops running.

And because it's been so long since we all got together, and because some people won't be able to make it this Saturday (or can't make it any Saturday), we're proposing a second gathering on Wednesday, August 1st, starting at 6pm, at either Glen Park Station in SF or Ben & Nick's in Oakland. Vote for your preference in the comments section here, or send an email to me, and I'll announce the decision by the end of this week.

I'll vote for Oakland, since, er, well, it's easier for me to get to. Ha!

Got plans for this Sat already, though.

And nice call on the Thrud illo. I ain't seen Thrud since White Dwarf was a real magazine and not an color catalog... ;)

See you there.

I like the idea of rotating to different sides of the bay.

Some day we sould visit the northern mists, like in Sausalito - no BART just a ferry...

So far the voting is evenly divided between the two venues. I also like alternating between SF and the East Bay, and we haven't done an East Bay get-together in a long time... but the voting is still open!

I'm good with either (Glen Park is more convenient for me--and you may not know this, but it really is all about me--but yeah, we do have more than a few East Bay folks), but I'll definitely be there tomorrow (and put in a plug at our insanely influential and popular super-blog).

I know the South Bay is boring but a venue a little closer would be great. I guess I can take the Cal Train to SF but we aren't known for our public transportation in the SB. Unfortunately.

Just for fun, I'm going to try and make it. I'll leave mom happily reading the new Harry Potter.

Sorry I missed it on Saturday; I had an electrical problem in the kitchen (i.e., there was no electricity in the kitchen) that I had to deal with. I hope to make it on the first, though.

Sorry that I had to miss all of you. DAMN it! I should be there on the first, though.
