Take Five

And now it's Monday, of a short holiday week, so let's start wasting time early. The email I received this in says it's an Air Force test, that USAF pilots taking it are expected to go for at least two minutes. Whatever. The idea is to click on the red block with your cursor and move it around to evade the blue blocks, which will move at you, while avoiding hitting the black walls. If you can make it for more than 18 seconds, said the email, you are phenomenal. Let's just say that I'm, at best, semi-phenomenal.

Knock yourselves out.

Oh , The Horror, The Horror

Our humble blog here now has the dubious distinction of being the number one search result for Michelle Malkin nude on Google.

In other news, below is another example of why Stanford is not the school it once was...

BARBARians bask in the joy of election results

A last minute to do at the Zeitgeist. Not quite a flash mob - hell we're not that organized. Yet the conversation was crisp and quite funny. I showed up late so I missed the more sober deliberations.

Besides comments on the best films to see, or the best trails to backpack in the Sierras (we were all over the map), the talk was lively and informative.

So here are my awards:

Best question of the night: How can we make politics easier to understand (outside of us blogger fanatics) and more palatable to those who work for aliving., who have few hours in a day because of the job, commute, working out and taking care of business. Good Question!

Best theory about the Ted Haggard Christian vote: You can't count on those Crystal Methodists...

Best comment about libertarians: If you follow their logic and policies, it's nothing more than the promotion of a failed nation-state; think Somalia.

Best joke of the night: Jack Palance is being introduced by Saint Peter to the various cliques in paradise, "Over there you can see some Catholics, some Orthodox and lot of other believers.

Jack asks, "Where are the fundementalists?"

Peter says,"See that big wall over there? We built that because those people would never be happy if they knew anyone else got here!"

RIP - Jack Palance: Barabarian Extradonaire

Born from Ukranian stock, nee Vladimir Palaniuk, Jack Palance played a numer of famous barbarian roles.

In 1954, he was a nasty and believable Attila the Hun in Sign of the Pagan.

Or when he was Rivak the Barbarian in a sandals and swords Italian film shot in Yugoslavia in 1960.

He was the son of Ghengis Khan, Otogai, in The Mongols.

He appeared in Gor and Outlaw of Gor.

OK, he did other films like Batman and City Slickers. But for me, my favorite performance was when he was an off-beat artist in Bagdad Cafe

We will miss you and your one-armed pushups

Gather, Ye BARBARians, and Cheer!

I realize this is short notice, but a few folks have approached me about all of us getting together to celebrate this week's momentous election victory, and I have to say I'm certainly in favor of it. So I'm proposing a gathering this Saturday, 11/11, from about 1 in the afternoon until we're all tired of raising our glasses in toasts to an informed electorate at Zeitgeist, 199 Valencia Street, San Francisco. Any takers?
